Here's additional info about our Lake Michigan Cottages in Arcadia and the surrounding area: This area of northern Michigan offers unique natural beauty and a tremendous variety of activities. Our cottages are located one mile north of Arcadia, nestled near the bottom of a huge bluff overlooking the Lake - the "Inspiration Point" scenic lookout at the hilltop marks the highest point anywhere on the shores of Lake Michigan. A beautiful Lake Michigan beach beckons from the windows of either cottage, but there are many other things to see and do in the area. Arcadia itself has charter fishing from two marinas. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is just north of the cottages, with its southern anchor in nearby Frankfort. The lakeshore is a "must see" and the Dune Climb (about 30 minutes north near Empire) is a favorite of kids and grownups alike. Frankfort and its companion town Elberta are nine miles north of the cottage. Check out the Trick Dog Cafe and store in Elberta, or go hang-gliding - yes, hang-gliding! in Frankfort. Beulah, Crystal Lake and Benzonia are north on M-31 for antiques, boutiques, and restaurants (including a McDonald's if you are on the run). Check out the double feature at the drive-in movie theater for a nostalgic treat on a warm summer night. On the way to Benzonia, visit the natural gravity-defying "Mystery Spot". It is completely unmarked but we give you directions to locate it yourself. Just south of Arcadia, about 3 miles, is the fabulous new Arcadia Bluffs Golf Course. The course itself is being reviewed by players comparing it to Bay Harbor and Pebble Beach. Call for tee times now! Hey, if you don't golf, you can still enjoy dinner or drinks from the clubhouse verandah. That view!!! Continue south to visit Onekema or the city of Manistee. The new Little River Casino is just north of Manistee at the junction of 22 and 31, about 20 minutes south of the cottages. Manistee was once the hub of the lumber trade and there are many fantastic Victorian lumber baron homes there. Besides Arcadia Bluffs, there are at least 10 other courses within 20 minutes. We provide our renters with a complete listing of the area's golf and wineries. You can also go canoeing, hang gliding, horseback riding, hiking, fishing, shopping, eating, or visit plenty of art galleries in the surrounding area, too. Birdwatch - check out Lake Arcadia wildlife - we've never seen so many swans. (And I swear I saw a bald eagle this spring - Steph). Go to a waterpark - Crystal Mountain has one, or there is another on US31 near Interlochen. Of course, there is always a festival or two around in one of the nearby towns - with more eating! Eating in? There are many farm stands and family u-picks for the freshest fruits, berries , and vegetables. Yum! And while you can't eat them here, find out how those trout and salmon make get their start in life at the Platte River Fish Hatchery, a little past Honor on 31. Finally, we all know it is sunny 100% of the summer in Michigan, but when the kids get a bad sunburn and have to stay in, keep them entertained with a craft kit from the Ben Franklin part of the Benzonia grocery.
Lake Front cottage setup is as follows: a queen in the first floor bedroom, a queen in the upstairs main bedroom and a daybed, a double bed and a twin in upstairs back room. Upstairs also has a half-bathroom. Main floor bathroom has a bathtub. The Lake View cottage has a king in the main floor bedroom, a queen plus a daybed in the upstairs main bedroom, and a full plus two twins in the upstairs back room. Upstairs is a half bathroom, main floor bathroom has a large shower stall only. This cottage has also a washer and dryer. Renters bring their own linens (pillow cases, towels, sheets, beach items) and paper products; the cottages are otherwise fully furnished with everything else. Rent for the Lake Front is $1775 per week and $1400 for the Lake View. For May, early June or late September weekly rentals we offer a discount. Other seasons are also discounted. The Lake View is open year round. We collect 50% rental deposit to hold your dates and the balance is due 30 days prior to your start date. We also collect a refundable security deposit. Cancellation

The Lake View cottage has
central heat and is usable year-round. It has a fantastic view of Lake
Michigan, and you can access it from our own private beachfront property
at the Lake Front cottage. We are near the Sleeping Bear Dunes and many wonderful historic small towns with antique shops and fun restaurants surround us. Our location offers canoeing, charter fishing, winery tours, concerts at Interlochen, and a great new gambling casino.Wintertime fun features skiing at Crystal Mountain, snow shoeing or cross-country skiing in the park, or possibly snowmobiling. There is plenty of golf nearby, including the fabulous Arcadia Bluffs Golf Course on Lake Michigan -- only three miles south. This incredible course has a fantastic restaurant with a spectacular view of Lake Michigan. You also have a vista-view of the lake from every hole!
